IUCN SSC Freshwater Plant Specialist Group
The IUCN SSC Freshwater Plant Specialist Group is a collaboration of over 100 individuals in more than 60 countries with a common interest in the conservation of wetland-dependent plant species. Our aim is to assess the extinction risk to all wetland-dependent plant species, produce Species Conservation Strategies for those which are threatened and use these strategies to obtain funding for field conservation.
Ultimately our aim is to produce Conservation Action Plans for all taxa which are identified as threatened by applying the IUCN criteria. We have recently produced the first two Action Plans, covering the conservation needs of Callitriche pulchra and Damasonium alisma which will be published later this year.
